Project no. 2 – Edition no. 1

ONE MORE DANCE?
DANCE AS A TOOL FOR CULTURAL WELFARE

Professional Area: Artistic and Performing Arts Production

After the training experiences carried out in recent years, dedicated to the relationship between “dance and disability” (Over Limited) and “dance and longevity” (Dancing Age), this year we propose ONE MORE DANCE? a unique path that, while maintaining in the teaching the specificity that characterizes the two dimensions, aims to offer a broader and more articulated view of various vulnerabilities, starting from the basics of Cultural Welfare.

The project therefore trains a figure capable of enhancing “difference”, understood not as a limitation but as a resource and starting point for a common creative path, using dance-specific approaches and teaching tools. A figure who, knowing the potential impact of dance on different psychophysical vulnerabilities, is able to adequately gather information to identify the objectives of an inclusivity path, creating an accessible common language that ensures all participants the acquisition of working tools in the field of cultural welfare. This figure will acquire skills to work with groups of different sizes and types, to create and present performances from a perspective capable of integrating body movement and the overall well-being of the person.

The project is divided into 5 distinct modules for a total of 150 hours and will involve some of the most active artists in the fields of disability and aging on the national and international scene as trainers.

The project modules are:
Module 1Dance and performing arts as a means of social and territorial inclusion – 32 hours
• Module 2Dance and integrated practices aimed at people in vulnerable conditions – 32 hours
Module 3Dance education and operational tools – 32 hours
• Module 4Language of physical theatre – 27 hours (22h Classroom, 5h Project Work)
• Module 5Scenic space and inclusive performances – 27 hours (22h Classroom, 5h Project Work)

Each training session is based on an experiential approach and includes lessons, meetings, and field projects, sharing and utilizing knowledge, skills, and artistic experiences to enrich reflection and enhance the participants’ skills.

Through action and reflection on action, the dancer’s learning capacity is enhanced, existing knowledge is valued and integrated with new techniques, enabling significant learning that leaves room for the creative act, the dancer’s ability to feel, and to connect with others in a dynamic, non-judgmental exchange and mutual enrichment.

The experimentation and learning of new creative processes and new dance languages are also made possible through the relationship with the instructor. A significant portion of the training will be dedicated to active interaction between instructors and participants and to exploring different modes of bodily expression, with the aim of fostering a condition of trust and comfort, facilitating the integration of the physical and emotional dimensions.

IN-PERSON LESSONS:
The in-person activities will be conducted by artists, choreographers, or dancers who have developed their own models of artistic-expressive relationships with people in vulnerable conditions. Through laboratory activities and simulations related to the module topics, participants will gain skills through an experiential approach.

TESTIMONIALS:
These are moments of discussion primarily conducted by disabled dancers/artists, researchers, and cultural welfare experts who, in various capacities, work in significant contexts for projects centered on the relationship between performing arts and well-being or who deal with relevant topics in this field. The testimonials – included in each training module – will allow participants to engage with examples and experiences implemented through best practices, models, and strategies. The goal is to acquire knowledge useful for integrating their own operational tool-kit.

PROJECT WORK:
This activity will facilitate the development of a specific methodological tool-kit to be applied in the relationship with vulnerable individuals involved in an artistic creation process or a laboratory experience. The project will be agreed upon in advance with the tutor regarding specific objectives and will consider insights derived from the activities of individual modules, capitalizing on the experiences of the trainers and/or testimonials.
