A dance and photography site specific project for urban, natural or historical spaces.
A new direction for the Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto and seeks to establish a deep dialogue with local areas and the various performing and artistic disciplines.
The project concept is to compare the dimension – ephemeral by definition – of danced movement with the very fixed nature of its photographic representation, which fixes a given moment forever. They are two different ways of thinking about the body, of setting it in dialogue not only with space and time but also with the eye of the spectator.
A single dance frame in this context resonates for both a finite and infinite space of time.
This project that arose from collaboration between Fondazione Palazzo Magnani / Fotografia Europea 2018 inaugurated the new course taken by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza/Aterballetto based on the search for deeper dialogue with communities and different performing and artistic disciplines. At the same time, In/Finito takes a look at various cities and landscapes, providing a reflection on the relationship between dance and photography and an experimental path offered to young artists.
Six choreographers, all under 35, created micro-performances of 5-minute duration for single dancers set in either urban or natural spaces. The performances are captured by the lens of different photographers where it borns an exhibition from.
