RHAPSODY IN BLUE

The CCN/Aterballetto flies to New York for the prestigious Fall for Dance festival, returning to dance on the stage of the New York City Center after nearly twenty years.

The company presents the U.S. premiere of Rhapsody in Blue, a choreography by Iratxe Ansa and Igor Bacovich based on the famous musical composition by George Gershwin, which in 2024 marks exactly 100 years since its first performance, which took place in 1924 in New York.

RHAPSODY IN BLUE – Iratxe Ansa & Igor Bacovich

«Rhapsody in Blue is in itself a fantastic toy for a choreographer, for a creative mind. Being so powerful, so joyful, so vibrant, it is filled with constant variations in form and feels like walking through an enchanted forest: within a few steps, you encounter a magical being, an unreal sky that changes color above you. One moves in this fantastic world, where the rhapsody offers a sonic space where everything is possible, where from every corner new elements emerge, and one is continuously surprised. The bodies react to frantic and ever-changing inputs. We played with all of this, closing our eyes and dreaming of new worlds every time we encountered a new theme.» – Iratxe Ansa & Igor Bacovich
