The Amazons.
The immortal myth of warrior women riding fiery horses, wielding bows, vigorous legs amid a storm, threatening eyes on delicate faces. Beautiful, young, resolute, ready to defend their independence with swords and arrows.
The archetype of the Amazons, women warriors inferior to no man, wishes to encourage a reflection on contemporary society and women’s roles. Homerus described them as “equal to men”, a sign of respect in the patriarchal society of ancient Greece.
The performance is within the summer festival DANZA AI CHIOSTRI curated by Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto and Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia.
