Tracce di Frida – The Resilient Body: The New Project with Modena AOU

The collaboration between the University Hospital of Modena (AOU) and Fondazione Nazionale della Danza / Aterballetto brings to life Tracce di Frida: The Resilient Body, a project aimed at women with Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) who have undergone major abdominal surgery, associated with axial or peripheral Spondyloarthritis and treated at the Multidisciplinary Clinic for Chronic Inflammatory Bowel and Joint Diseases at the AOU of Modena.

At the heart of the project is the desire to harness the benefits of dance to address inflammation, abdominal and joint symptoms, stress secondary to these conditions, and the altered body image perception that often results. The ultimate goal is to improve the quality of life for these patients.

The workshop, led by choreographer and trainer Lara Guidetti, offers participants an opportunity to reconnect with their bodies through dance movement as a creative practice of exploration, awareness, and play, moving beyond the rational confines of verbal language. It fosters a deep connection with a sensitive and expressive perception of the self. The artist Frida Kahlo, particularly her work with self-portraits, has been chosen as the poetic reference and inspiration for this creative process.
